Oh My God, They Killed Kennny

When I was growing up Kensington was an undistinguished area of Liverpool full of terraced houses, a lot are still there. Sadly the Silver Blades Ice Rink is not. See old and new map here.

While most of Kensington the road is still well populated it is cut off from the rest of town by Low Hill, a road that has greatly expanded over the years. To the south is Edge Lane and major rail lines that form a break, to the north West Derby road, with its decimated population provides a boundary. Eastward it becomes Old Swan or West Derby before being closed in by Queens drive.
The area to the west has been totally destroyed and rebuilt, only the remains of Prescot Street Bridwell and Sacred Heart Catholic Church can be seen. The previous housing having been destroyed for space the current Royal Liverpool Hospital occupies, which after less than 40 years will soon be demolished, with a new building rising slightly south of the current one. The site being landscaped as a park and perhaps cutting Kenny of that little bit more. See update at the bottom
The Gap between town and Kenny is psychological but reinforced by the width of Low Hill, it is reinforced further by the awkwardly shaped patch of green, which has dusty rough adhoc track across it, that marks a bit of Urban land as unloved derelict land.

When the current site of RLUH is landscaped car needs to be taken to make it look like a park, perhaps a small wall around it but on the other side the grass between Harper Street and Low Hill needs to be built on, with a housing block to add people to the area, a bridge over the road, would also be welcome, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to move freely.
Attempting to link Kenny back to town needs to be part of the plan when designing the new RLUH park and getting some redevelopment done. The psychology is vitally important.

Update 28/06/2016

Turns out it will not be a Landscaped park directly against Prescot street but it is proposed that it will be the site of a new Bio Science campus.
